A high schooler does more research on his or her mid term than you clearly did on this piece. Are you actually of the belief that the U.S. is no longer a superpower and it only was because of the Cold War?

How about this stat. Our GDP is bigger than the GDP's of the next four biggest countries, COMBINED. Our economic strength dwarfs the rest of the world. Why do you think we have bases all throughout the world? It's because the rest of the world depends on the U.S. for military strength.

Clearly, the terrorists don't perceive the U.S. as no longer being a super power. It is the U.S. specifically, not Britain, France or Germany that they want to destroy first and foremost.
