I don't recall what Hitchens said about the Suskind book when it came out, but why "a fool"?

I mean, yes, he foolishly believed he'd be serving honorable men in Bush and Cheney and he foolishly beleived for a while that he could bring some change from within, but how else exactly was he a fool?
