Re: A confession: I'm in a quandry...
by Stoneground

Be careful what you wish for. I confess that I have never been a big Hillary fan despite my better half's wholehearted and thoughtful support for her. But I am truly mortified at the prospect of Obama being President at this critical time in the world. No other time has been faced with as many crucial, contradictory, conflicting, and potentially deadly issues that must be addressed. Inaction is no longer an alternative for so many contentious issues. The times call for courageous, insightful, united, and inspired action that will certainly alienate a significant portion of the country and the world. We cannot do it alone as Americans or citizens of the world without copious amounts of currently nonexistent GOOD WILL, and some fundamental agreement in principle. There is no easy way out of the mess that we have created. We are a world and nation divided against ourselves. There is plenty of blame to go around. One thing is certain, and that is that it does matter who leads. The idea that a puppet can do little or no harm in the role has been destroyed once and for all. How anyone can feel confident that Obama is the man for this time is beyond me? I believe that it is a reckless gamble. I believe that there is no gamble with McCain. He would make a terrible President for far too many reasons for me to list here. These are choices worth weeping over.

The supporting cast he surrounds himself with will be the best indication of his understanding and fitness for the monumental task that he lays claim to. God help us.
