Re: Yes, Virginia voted for Obama.

Greatbear,

True, Queen Elizabeth wasn't a "flawless" leader, but it's the forest for the trees, isn't it?

Yes, they speak of Obama as their preferred candidate, but why? I have no idea. I think it's a mistake driven by good (but misguided) intentions and a lot of understandable (but foolhardy) hope.

This is probably why Clinton supporters think she is the only candidate who is suitable to "sit on the throne:" because we clearly don't think Obama is ready to sit on that throne and nothing he has done or said as of yet has changed that opinion. Clinton is not only clearly the stronger candidate, but Obama has said some things that indicate that he would not only be a less than stellar President, but a potentially dangerous one.

Hence, I do not want him in office as he is right now. Let him spend more time on foreign relations committees. Let him spend more time in the Senate or let him do a stint as Governor. Let him learn from Clintons triumphs and mistakes in the White House (maybe he'll change his tune regarding the possibility of a national health care system).

I just don't know what he was thinking when he chose to run at this point in time, given the state that America is in both at home and abroad. A lot of the time it's clear that he hasn't thought his platform through very much...so why does he want to be President? He has no experience changing the world...why is he so sure that he can do it? More importantly, why is he suggesting that he can? No one else is suggesting that they can change the world (or the basic fabric of human nature) ...so what's up with him? Who does he think he is exactly? He thinks he can reverse the tide of...everything...simply by sitting down with countries that have been enemies to America for decades. He thinks he can yank us out of the mire that is Iraq in a very short period of time simply because "the President sets the agenda" (his words). Why is he so sure that this is possible?

*That* to me is narcissism--thinking you deserve the job when you're not giving the voter any reason to vote for you *other* than playing on their emotions. You're not giving them healthcare...you're not giving them a reason to think the economy will improve...you're not giving them a feasible plan for Iraq...you're not giving them a reason to feel secure on the foreign stage. The only thing he's offering is a vague inclination that things will improve and a whole lot of moralizing about campaign integrity (and who *cares* about that right now?)

This is why Obama supporters seem "cult-like"...one merely has to think ten seconds about it to ask, what about this is even appealing to you to the point where you would disregard everything but his rhetorical messages? Also, the crying and the fainting don't help the cause either.
