Ownership? Its more transcendental than that.

Attempting to proscribe meaning to a very literal concept seems to rob the original concept of its meaning.
"Modesty" is its own virtue. Believing in it follows with commitment and practice. Wearing a khimar is that practice and commitment.
As for "ownership", there are many verses in the Quran wherein God states that His believers are also His servants, or even His slaves. Thus belief and obedience to God is both implicitly and explicitly submission to God, surrendering one's "freedom" for God's pleasure.
But "ownership" by God means commitment to His revelation. And this results in harmonious living according to one's nature, including fulfilling one's instincts and needs as God so commanded (every person can marry, have kids, and so forth).
And it means enlightened intellectual thought and continued intellectual development because God is the Author of Intelligence, the All Knowing, All Wise. Man is not smarter or wise than God, God is the Master of Wisdom and Knowledge. Submission to Him opens the door to greater enlightenment.
But this is the struggle of all mankind: revel in one's own percieved wisdom, intelligence, power, dominance, pridefully walk the earth, or submit to God and humble oneself before Him, the Lord and Master of the Universe.
