That's disingenuous. What the original message meant was that you can't get a rebate on a tax you never paid, not that people getting the stimulus check aren't paying any taxes at all. The fact that they pay other taxes to other governments (sales taxes, in states that have them, are paid to state governments, not the federal government) does not change the fact that some people do not pay federal income taxes.

No one is objecting to this, we're just arguing for some honesty in what the stimulus checks are called.
