Re: POLL: Age Difference
by Graylodge

1. I suppose it depends on how you define the verb "date". I don't date at all any more in the sense I did when I was a teenager or young adult. I kind of fall into relationships. I can't see the next one being with anyone much older or younger than I am, but in truth I wouldn't want to even guess how far I'd let that slide for "the right person".

2. When I was in college I had a brief affair with a divorced lady who lived up the street from my family home. She was in her late 30s at the time and she was a babe. It being the very early seventies, I also had my share of flings with college girls, townie girls and hippie chicks. This does not mean, by any stretch of the imagination, that I was anything like studly. It's just the way things were back then... in any college dorm. Ours was supposed to be coed, separated by floor. Within a month it was entirely coed, corredors, floors and rooms. On our corredor "someone" even ripped out all of the dividers between the showers so there'd always be someone to wash your back. And there was...

Yes, I'd say both the world and my outlook have changed just a bit over the years. I had given up on sex-as-a-handshake long before the 70s were over. It was usually fun, but fun is all it was or ever would be and I wanted it to be more than that. Now, of course, the entire 20th century is over. I have been married, divorced, raised daughters and turned old and gray, thanks largely to having been married, divorced and beset by loving daughters. No complaints.

30 years ago, I'd have been currently on the lookout for the next great romantic adventure but, frankly, I don't have the energy or the emotional impulse to bother. I stopped chasing tail a very long time ago and I'm now too old and dignified to start again. If I ever again stumble into a situation where the chemistry and the moment combine to light a fire under my ass, I am confident the woman who provoked it will be present in the room and we will see then what is to be seen. Until then, I don't waste time thinking off about it.

3. I am male, if that weren't already perfectly obvious.
