When pondering things like this and how much offense one should "reasonably" take, I generally think about how I'd react if someone else had said it.
So think about it in that context. What if McCain had brought up Obama and RFK's assassination? What about Rove or Cheney? What if Harry Reid had brought it up or Joe Biden? John Edwards? Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson (and when did they get to be the front men for African-American politics and not Colin Powell or John Conyers or Sanford Bishop? What if Dave Chappelle had said it?
The way I look at it is that it was in poor taste at best and not something that I would want to see in my elected representative. If she cannot avoid such a horrific gaffe that even a novice political observer such as myself could have known would have consequences, then do I want her negotiating with Putin and his cronies? Do I want her going head to head with Chavez? I mean, its not like Latin America or Russia ever had to deal with the concepts, thoughts or aftermath of US advocated killings of political figures.
