I was a "karenskyist" myself during the 1980s. As bad as the Reagan/Bush years were for the orientation of the country, I still thought the 'Leninists' were too smug and too sanguine about a large chunk of workers falling through the cracks in order to make the contradictions of capitalism starker. I still think so. But to be fair, Obama is more conservative than a lot of his backers. Obama is on record favoring diplomacy over unilateral foreign policy, fiscal conservatism (raising taxes on the wealthy), and targeted bailouts for homeowners facing foreclosure. Obama is actually a moderate, and it is the GOP that is still hewing the hard neocon right path, and Clinton triangulating when she is not in essential agreement with Obama.
The leftists would be backing Kucinich if they could. Obama is probably much less radical than he's painted by the media.
