I have to say that with all the moves we've made and cities we've lived in, the most eco-conscious place with the most recycling was the mighty metropolis of Grapevine, Texas.

Every week, they picked up all paper (newsprint and glossy), plastic, glass (colored and clear), and any metal that you wanted to toss in the box. The collected Christmas trees and chipped them for mulch in city parks. Fire halls ALWAYS took leftover paint and toxic stuff, not just during cleanup drives, and there is a city tire dump where old tires are shredded and recycled.

Here in the liberal North? Not a chance!
