What will they think of next?
Perhaps a pill.
Call it The Pill of WOE (weekly obligation experience).
Now you won’t have to go to church anymore, you can get your feeling of guilt, absolution and inspiration all from your local pharmacist. It’ll be a lot cheaper than that Sunday offering too.
This kills me. So since science is validating what spiritual traditions have been saying for centuries, that somehow makes it more valid now, and not only that, but now we can set about the work of improving it, change the old family recipe? HAA! Leave it to science to not get it.
This piece must have been written by a guy who doesn’t really have a clue about spirituality and or the metaphysical. What would be the point of transcending anything if there is no divinity to be experienced or revelation to be had? Imagining what that might entail seems to lead to something artificial, to me. And just who is it that believers are going to have to defend their beliefs to? Typical guilty until proven innocent mentality. Here’s a hint, if God thought of me and then created me, that is about as personal as it gets as far as relationships go.
Actually, what should happen is that those who find this stuff intriguing should start looking back into what the old time religions have been saying and selling successfully for centuries. Maybe look at why those teaching have inspired and comforted and resonated with folks for so long, ya think?
