Gavin de Becker's book the GIFT OF FEAR is the best one I have ever read. It talks about recognizing the "red flags," etc, but more importantly, is impowering in that it tells you is not ok to follow your "gut instinct," but essential to do so. There is also another one called "Protecting the Gift" about keeping one's kids safe. They are both excellent. Good luck.
