Yeah, wellread. That's why everyone was so startled when Obama started talking, It was a good feeling. The good feeling was quickly mocked, "koolaid" etc., but that was bullshit.Because you know, it SHOULD be a good feeling. A relief. America isn't used to the idea that we could just openly stop the subculture/race/gender/class etc. identity wars. It would be truer to actual experience if we stopped pretending they were so real to people. I work mostly with conservative baptists and country folks and hell, in real life they have gay friends and pot-smoking friends and some are pro-choice and some are racist and some aren't and its actually all over the place. I'm a low-income boomer white woman and an Obama supporter all the way. I hate it when I'm noted as a Clinton type because of my age, race and gender. It is stupid. People are much more complicatd and spread out in their views than these stupid "demographics" suggest. Nobody is in these little boxes really, except fanatical dittoheads etc. Most of us have outgrown the little boxes. It's the TV, the papers and the right wing that somehow likes to sharpen these miserable and fake divisions. And it all self-fulfills somehow. Americans seem to be suggestible. That will be a great trait if Obama wins. We could grow up as a nation.
