my biggest compliant about movie reviews is the fact that the reviewer is NOT the person the movie was even written for and they can't seem to figure it out. yes, money is TIGHT these days and spending $20 a person on a show had better be money well spent. but it's SUMMER TIME! i seriously doubt that ANYTHING that comes out will be Oscar worthy let alone make you think. the reviews i've seen about Speed Racer pan it. i've SEEN THE MOVIE and it was GOOD! if you know ANYTHING about the basic plot of the show, you have the movie pretty much figured out. if that's your thing go see it, if not, then don't. but don't take my or some "reviewer's" word for it. go see it for yourself! lately, we've been told to NOT let other ppl do our thinking for us. most of this comes from the politicos and it's their way of trying to psyche you into voting for their guy or gal as the case may be. but what they're saying is right. why the hell we're letting some "reviewer" tell us what to like is beyond me. i highly suggest this to ANYONE with ANY movie: get online and look at the movies website. if it's based on a show, see if you can't watch a few episodes (HELLO Hulu!) or check out fan sites. (comic) book? READ IT! wikipiedia stuff. do your own damn leg work. if it fits into your tastes and plans this friday night, have a go at it! spread the word if you dig it. if not, tell ppl why, but encourage them to make their own conclusions. and remember, sometimes, it's not even about you or for you. that's nothing against you per se, it's just that you don't fall into the demographic the story is trying to get. don't worry, there IS something out there for you. TRUST ME! but sometimes, you just gotta get off your damn high horse and chill out in the shade for a while. and if you're nice, i'll share my popcorn and the arm rest with you. :)
