Hillary will stay in the race
by larbabe

She will do so, not because she believes she will win, but admirably to try to unify the Democratic Party behind the candidacy of Barack Obama. And I think she should, least though May 20, and possibly into June.

According to ABC News <link>, Obama has now surpassed Hillary in superdelegates. Also, Rasmussen Reports has stated that “the race is over”, pronouncing Obama the Democratic presumptive nominee. <link>

The reason that Hillary will continue in the race at least through the Kentucky and Oregon primaries, is to try to quell the seething anger amongst some her supporters and to head off a potential backlash of those who may cross over to vote for McCain. You will notice that she will stop attacking Obama.

There are many here like myself who admire Hillary, who’ve defended her on numerous occasions (I'm even tied to her through family connections), but who prefer Obama. We have been on the receiving end of some inflamatory comments spewed forth by the more rabid Hillary supporters here, many of whom I’ve communicated with in the past (in a lot friendlier atmosphere). Long timers such as Loree who’ve been posting here and I’ve known since before Bush took office, are certainly not deserving of some of the outrageous diatribes I’ve observed.

Again, and I stress, admirably, Hillary will try to heal the wounds before she drops out. I sincerely hope that she will be considered for the VP spot on the 2008 ticket. Neocons such as Rain Man and Tickle Bob must be enjoying the in-fighting, thinking that the Democratic Party will never recover from its self-destruct mode, that McBush will be able to win the presidential race. I happen to disagree. I think that at sometime in the near future, we will all come together and support Obama as the candidate. What’s the alternative? Four more years of Bush? I don’t think so!
