It occurs to me from time to time that every day that those two candidates hog the camera is another day that McCain has to beg for exposure.
As long as the media is wrapped around this drama, the right in unable (mostly) to seize the agenda and start their slime cycles.
Further, as long as the Democratic party has two candidiates, the GOP is forced to develop two game plans and prevented from settling into their own campaign of character assassination.
So, the Dems hog the spotlight, and the agenda, to a large extent as a resut. Stretching this advantage now into May.
Also, it seems preferable to have the candidate's dirty laundry aired within the family, rather than by the GOP, given a choice. These questions about Rev Wright are ugly, but just imagine if it was McCain riasing them. They won't let go. if Obama is lucky, Rev Wright will be old news by the time the GOP gets its turn.
It is clear that as soon as the Dem question is settled, the GOP will roar into action, with the media ready to cover the new horserace. The longer the Dems can put this off, the better.
Do you think the Democratic party is that smart?
nah.
