Re: "A Place in Maine" (short review & HOTR)

Lunesta:
Fine, fine job, you Master Parodist, you. It almost hurts me, "quite pity" to read your parody (well-done as it is...) because I am aching for that seemingly unloved (and forgotten?) mother. (The contrast with my own happy situation as "mere et puis plus" makes me hurt more for her, too.) You really are so good at this, WR. Have to agree w. you about this poem -- it's almost too short to judge it in any meaningful way, but I do prefer / admire the beginning & ending sections much more than that muddled middle. Comme toujours, ton amie fidele.

Yeah, I'm sad for the mother too. I just wish I understood better what happened in that relationship (and as usual, I'm apt to blame the poet for lack of communciation).

OT, thanks to the present near-non-functionality of my Yahoo! 360 blog, I've replaced it with a personal blog on WordPress and an academic blog on Blogspot. Once Yahoo finally releases its upgrade and transfers over the blog data, we'll see if it works -- otherwise I'll just chuck it in favor of the very pretty (and very user-friendly) WordPress blog (which has, among other things, an original haiku under the title)...

The WordPress blog also has a copy of something a conservative friend sent me. It would interest you keenly, yet I'm pretty sure you would find strong objection to parts of it. Here is the blog entry anyway.
