Six months is FOREVER! Six months ago Rudy and Hillary lead!
by DoctorJ

This all just makes me so angry that this stupid nomination was allowed to drag out for so long so as to make all these supporters hate each other INSTEAD of the other side and INSTEAD of looking at the ISSUES! If Hillary supporters stay home or go to McCain in high enough numbers to lose this totally winnable election to an inferior opponent (McCain 2000 was formidable, 2008 McCain is NOT) the party has no one to blame but ourselves! If Hillary supporters cannot or will not get behind a nominee whose platform is what 80-90% the same and the remaining 10-20% are mostly semantic differences of how we'd acheive the same ultimate goal like universal health care, then either they weren't really for those principles in the first place, OR they've become so disillusioned by the process they're willing to abandon their pursuit of these principles out of spite/anger, OR they've been driven off by the party and its members because the scars/memories are too fresh.

Obama can't win without a LARGE CHUNK of those that are voting for Hillary. He can't. I don't care how many new voters we register or how disillusioned Republicans are about McCain (and for the life of me I can't understand how he's gotten the liberal label w/his voting record!). Similarly if Hillary was handed the nomination and all those new voters and black voters gave her the 1 finger salute and stayed home she'd get KILLED. We NEED to be united to win, even against a weak opponent and with all the economic and political points that would give us an advantage in November.

I don't know if having Hillary as the VP is the way to do this, but regardless Hillary supporters need to vote on the ISSUES and not out of anger, and Obama supporters need to stop pretending we don't want or need their support. Luckily it's barely May and the election is in SIX MONTHS! I have faith that in that time, as Hillary supporters get more time to regroup, think and listen to Obama's and McCain's platform and positions on the issues, that the differences we THINK are bad now will seem trivial next to 4 yrs of McCain aka Bush III. Plus I also have faith that over the next 6 months Obama supporters won't continue to alienate and antagonize Hillary supporters similar to how the Democratic party has "courted" black voters - "No, we won't give you anything or even listen to you, because what are you gonna do? Vote for the Republican?"

This too shall pass, Obama will be a solid nominee that appeals to ALL Democrats, Independents and many Republicans, and will lead a new wave of Democratic congressmen and women into office in November. We all just need to chill, turn off the TV/radio and internet for a few weeks and remember what is important is to get a president that represents our values, interests and positions AND one that will put others in the gov't that do the same ALL while telling us the TRUTH and being honest. Obama will do this WITH the support of proud Democrats like Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Joe Biden, Chris Dodd and all the other Democrats in Congress and also in regular jobs like us...
