My hopes that the media might just get it right one of these days has stretched into maybe in years ... and still, are not realized. I have to agree with your characterization about the people who are voting for Obama -- at least some of them. He does have some older supporters, of course, some of whom are quite wealthy & sophisticated, including the billionaire George Soros, the force behind moveon.org. And it's a good thing that Obama's campaign has gotten the younger voters off their video-game playing duffs & out of the bars & into political rallies (by which I mean pseudo-rock concerts). But if they revert to type & stay home on Election Day because it's too inconvenient or the weather's bad or something, then what "change we can believe in " will his campaign really have brought? I know what you mean about the giant NAME-only focus posters; it's a little frightening, the whole cult aspect of the thing.
