Re: Voter ID Laws Necessitate Free National ID Cards
by ASlyJD

I understand that a birth certificate is often necessary for an ID. I realize that the cost of getting a replacement is minor but real.

But they give you a birth certificate when you are born. If a person can't keep tract of one piece of paper, are they really responsible enough to vote?

(Yes, I suppose that the parents could be the one who loses it and that the loss really punishes the child. But jeesh, at some point the voter ID issue really becomes a question of if someone is so disconnected from society that they can't prove they exist, should they really be allowed to influence society?)
