Actually, that data does not seem to be reliable.

According to Canadian statistics of actual payments made to physicians by the single payer (Medicare), the Canadians do much better then the polling source listed would indicate.

According to 2004 data ( <link> - go to data tables, table 1-1), average FP rec'd 193K and internists $281K. Now that's received vs income, so it's hard to say what they took home with office and staff expenses. Surgeons rec'd 292K and ophthalmology $412K.

I actually do not think our (US) NON- procedural based specialists incomes are seriously differnet than other countries. It is in the procedural based specialties that we see the most difference.
