I've taken great care to phrase this discussion in an ecumenical way, specifically so that biases don't influence the tone or direction of the matters at hand. Still, it's good to get this perspective from one of the worldwide religions. Granted that shematwater doesn't speak for the entire church membership, does anyone else want to chime in as a representative from their chosen congregation (provided we avoid flame wars) regarding these questions?

• Do numbers matter?
• Is there a way to determine spiritual satisfaction quantitatively?
• If your church came out with a similar contract, what effect would it have on you; what effect would you predict it would have on other followers of your faith and potential initiates?

Deep questions, surely, but for our purposes here, something brief and insightful may help friends from other faiths appreciate one another more.
