I'm afraid you misunderstand me. I'm not saying the Church of Scientology is a religion, the U.S. government says they are, and they say they are. With that given, I'm pondering the usefulness of legal documents such as this contract in the specific realm of religion--how much effect does such a document (or the statements therein) have in a court of law and in the courts above? Would similar contracts be viable in other religions? And similar questions, as our imaginations carry us along.
It's not my intent to advocate or dissuade anyone from any philosophy, creed, or religion. I'm sure there are fine people everywhere who believe quite differently from what I do.
