"government inefficency" argument against universal care
by ncwebguy

For everyone who asks about the inefficiencies that a governement run plan would incur, they never think to ask the opposite -- where would we be if the government were run like the insurers?

We would pay x dollars per pay check, and copays for police/fire/trash/road mainteance/mail delivery/etc. Police/fire calls would have to be evaluated to see if the victim was using the right provider. To say nothing if bad wiring, living in the wrong part of town, or clerical errors due to their own incompetence would be cited as "pre-existing conditions" and lead to denial of coverage.

Disguising profits is easily done through CEO bonuses, property acquisitions, investements, etc. The writer's unquestioning acceptance of their profits and profit margins leads me to not trust the rest of the artcile.

And is making $110/year on *every* (carefully selected, relatively healthy) customer for the "big five" not enough?
