Christopher Hitchens, no matter how right you feel you are about Iraq, John "Doesn't Know a Shiite from a Sunni" McCain and his ignorant, gay-hating "spiritual advisor" Hagee are the very last things we need in this country. For the love of all free thinkers and skeptics, sharpen your teeth and bite deeply on this guy's ass, won't you? This tepid "attack" on his temper is totally transparent. Why do you let the morally disgusting comments of Hagee slip past your intellectual fire and brimstone, as well as McCain's gross ignorance about the Middle East, and instead save your breath for blasting the Democratic nominees?

Because you've done exactly what the evangelical Christians have done: you've sacrificed the greater good of the world over a single political issue. In their case it's abortion. In your case, Iraq. You'd let the damned scourge of democracy have the White House again because of this one issue -- a war that's bankrupting our country, no matter how "moral" you might feel it is.

I take away your "fighting" pen. Until you find the real enemy again, you no longer deserve it.
