Never Trust A Maoist
by jousterusa

The idea that the Maoists woiuld play a constructive role in Nepal's future was a strategic insanity. They have no real option but violence because they know no other way to change a people's desire for democracy into a desire for totalitarianism

The essay hardly touches on the absolute cruelty of the Maoists as they conquered rural villages; that is a story that ought to be told in such an essay. The horrifying story of the 14-year-old victim of the government is presented as fact but sounds like propaganda; and the contrasting victim of the Maoists is not nearly as captivating. Was the producer of this message pro-Maoist, pro-democratist, pro-monarchy, or what?
