Weighting out the Military
by aerospaceman
While the number of available recruits dwindle, the Army does the run around keeping their service members on active duty past their obligated end of service date. Whether or not dumbing down or weighting around for a very large army of one, we need service members to enforce US policy abroad. The question that crosses my mind might be a waist(sic) of time. What happens to those service members who don't muster up to the weight standards? We know that obesity is a disease that affects multitudes of people around the world. I believe that the recruit or service member may be given a certain amount of time to conform or be booted out of the service under honorable conditions and not a medical discharge. This avoids the problems of having to pay the member through a service connected disability. Weighting out the military is costly, service connected disability for obesity is more costly, waiting for congress to act...priceless.
