The grounding of hundreds of airplanes for "maintenance" issues was simply a cynical use of FAA regulations by the airlines to create a tax loss and an excuse to raise prices to double-cover the soaring price of jet fuel--at the painful expense of air travelers. If you doubt this, log on to Southwest to buy a two-way ticket to LA from Oakland. What cost $125 a few weeks ago is now $300. As the writer of a daily national newsletter on the Wall Street credit markets, I can say with some confidence: you ain't seen nothin' yet. The food riots are starting in West Africa, Central Asia and elsewhere; are you ready for milk at $10 a half-gallon? An unemployment rate of 12%?
