Still dumb as bricks

Sawbones:

the mental gymnastics required to turn "those with an 8th grade education" into "many college educated people in this country." And I would also like to see some concrete demonstration of exactly how Obama appeals to those who think it is "better to be cool than be smart." If you have specifics, fire away. Unfortunately, your general tone makes me suspect that you are more comfortable talking in unprovable generalities.

Seeing that you have no idea of what I was talking about, I will tell you in no uncertain terms that most college graduates in our country can not read above the 8th grade level of schooling. That is the level of writing that the news media condescends to... Do you think that the 'educated classes' of our society are not elitist and do not put those with state school diploma's down?

There are no mental gymnastics required to know this. My friend, masses of Americans are, indeed, considered "illiterate" by the elite.

You want proof? I will see if I can find the memo from the Obama camp on how to write an effective letter to the editor which informs one that they must write at or below the 8th grade reading level. I guess then I will have to appease you by getting my college English Lit professor friends to confirm how abysmally unprepared students are to even sit in their classrooms.

I guess you must be one of the few that never attended public K -12 schools. It was never cool to be smart in a public school, especially if you were a girl. If you do not believe me, do your own darned research! I will not grovel to you because you want facts... this is an opinion post for goodness sake!

My point and observation is that popular culture rules our young children and that phenomena is known to affect adults such as you as well.

BTW,your comment about unprovable generalities howls considering your first post! ;)

Good luck to you.
