I just think it is illustrative of our society's view of women that despite years, and generations, of trying to promote the equality of men and women, there is still support for someone whose chief complaint with a female candidate for President is that her gender disqualifies her, or is an impediment to, holding a position of leadership.

I understand your son is young - I'm only nine years his senior; but it just shows how far we are from achieving equal rights in terms of gender. I really hope for the day when everyone will realize: "Wow. We are all human beings, we are all equal, and we each should be given the right to be judged by the decisions we make and how we lead our lives - not on factors like gender, race, eye-color, genetic predisposition and other factors outside of our control."

The next generation of feminists really have an uphill battle, when they need to divorce themselves from the righteous anger of the first generation and distance themselves from the feminist label.

I think Obama supporters forget that for many of us, it is not a matter of needing to elect a woman - she is more moderate, and for many of us who feel abandoned by both the Democrats and Republicans, she really is the "Change" candidate. Obama reflects the condescension and the arrogance that turned me off from the Democrats in the first place - both are politicians, but hearing him ridicule Hillary Clinton in this sexist way just signals to me exactly why he is not and never will be a true uniter; he just likes the idea of being a uniter.
