That only works so well. My wife's sister cleaned out their grandmother's house when she died. We have actually found those tags on furniture at her house, but the sister just says "oh, well.. Sue me." I've talked to a couple of legal people about this and they basically say it would be nearly impossible to prove that the items should be ours. Posession is 9/10ths of the law.
