What is astonishing about this article is that the writer has fallen, hook, line and sinker, for the Rove playbook. In a recent interview with a men's fashion magazine, he suggested it would be a good idea to attack Obama as "elite." Namely take a strength and by distortion, turn it into a alleged weakness. Obama said exactly what Bill Clinton said on the Charlie Rose show at the beginning of the campaign, going on to add that Republican leaning folk tend to take out their economic frustrations by embracing an anti-immigrants stance, democrats an anti free trade stance. That's exactly what we have seen.
So instead of discussing the substance of a truth, distort it into an insult and make sure that the people come to feel it as an insult even if it never was one. That way they will stop thinking and react with anger instead. And this writer is yet another Fish caught on yet another Swiftboating bait. Congratulations.
So if you'd rather have the non "elite" Hillary... I almost wish you all could get your wish. If our politics does always descend into such utter distracting nonsense, I guess we deserve the leaders we have gotten until now. Bring her on. McCain or Clinton. What's the difference? It will be Bush III and the US will sink lower and lower in the world's estimation and be less and less able to tackle its problems. So be it.
