What if McCain Had Said Something Similiar?
by va_law_07

You know that if MCCAIN had made a comment like this, the press would have done one of three things:

1. Failed to pay any significant attention to the comment (see, for example, the media's indifference to McCain's repeated inability to distinguish between Shites and Sunnis).

2. Fallen all over themselves claiming how it shows what an earnest, straight-talking, straight-shooter he is. If his statements were a little rough around the edges, that's just because he's willing to speak off the top of his head!

3. Complained that "critics" were taking him "out of context" and that he obviously didn't mean what critics claim.

They would certainly NOT have predicted that it was a significant blow to McCain's campaign. After all, we are led to believe that "foreign policy expertise" is one of McCain's greatest strengths, and yet the press does not seem the least bit concerned about his repeated difficulty keeping Shites and Sunnis straight.

Our same media told you that Al Gore was a liar. Our same media told you that the administration was completely trustworthy in making its case for war in Iraq! Kerry was an out-of-touch elite but Bush was a simple guy and the great thing about him is "you know where he stands."

The media wants to judge the candidates' characters for you again. Are you happy with the job they've done at this over the last eight years? Don't let them do it again!
