One of my 1st memories, after the attack on Pearl Harbor, was a parish priest preaching a sermon on the Vatican's treaty with Italy's Fasciasts & how it helped the RC' minister to a war torn world.

The church was in the Arcdioces of Cincinasty. The Archbishop was an avid analiguist for & to Pius 12. He even named a high school for Cardinal Pachelli after the man who became Pius 12 visited Cincinasty. It seems to me now that the archbishop was kissing ass in order to become a Cardinal. The analinguis didn't do the Archbishop any good he never got a red hat or a more important appointment.

Yes, I became an atheist a long time ago. Pius12 as protector of Nazi Germany wasn't part of my decision to be an atheist. I simply lost faith in any g-d.

I'm neither surprised nor too angry that Benny the whatever is the RC's pope. I simply don't care about religious groups.

The USA's cafeteria Catholism could lead to interesting developments. (Disclosure: I once was married to a RC woman) Many RC's choose to use birth control, approve of women becoming priests & reject other RC doctrines & practices. Benny, the whatver, may demand that no women be ordained as priests, RC's never use contraception & re-affirm other RC doctrines. He could demand that RC's go back to the Latin mass. Since the RC's have an extremely large growing shortage of priest, many lay people will press the RCs to ordain women as priests. Pope Benny is unlikely to allow women to become priests. Married RC's will continue to use contraception. I don't think Pope Benny will tolerate RC homosexuals having homosexual sex. The re-indroduction of demanding that a Mass being said in Latin & Latin only will be rejected by lay people & a number of priests who never learned Latin. American RC's probably will reject allowing men only priesthood as the shortage of priests grow. RC's will continue to use contraception. American RC's will reject the Latin mass. The mass in English & Spanish is now a tradition in the USA. RC homosexuals will continue to have homosexual sex & still think of themselves as faithful, practical Catholics. It wouldn't be surprising if American RC's established a popeless RC church which will ordain women as priests, allow priests to marry, express their sexuality in a commited homosexual bond with homosexual sex & lay homosexuals will also be given the right to enter & live in a church sanctioned committed relationship. The ceremony of committment may even become a sacrament in the new American RC church. As for a Latin only mass being required in America, it never will fly.

The Pope in Rome doubtlessly declare the new American RC like church anethema. Few Americans will pay any attention to any Roman Pope; they will go to & build an Americanized, RC like church. It will replace the papist RC church. Few American RC's will remain in the eviscerated, papist RC church. The papist RC church will shrink in size because it will have too few priests to say Mass at the few RC churches which remain open, The papist RC church will continue to ruthessly chose churches with few active members & combine them into a large, surviving, regional church which a priest will visit briefly to say mass while lay people are administrators of the few surving RC Churches. Many, if not most, RC schools are staffed by lay people now since ther are far too few nuns, lay brothers & priests to staff RC schools. The lay people of the new American, RC like church will use the staffing pattern of RC schools which exist in 2008.

It's probable that the Papist RC church in the USA will sell unused churches & other propert as it shrinks into a much smaller & ever more shrinking marganilized, obsolete, fragile body in its atavistic pursuit of oblivion. While the irony of new RC like bodies buying the property which is being sold by the ever shrinking Papist RC organizations will become a grand joke for all, the Papist American RC church will gratefully take the money from the organizations of the new American RC like church. The papist RC church always needs lots of money & it never forgets that.

One wonders how many former RC's in America will join Protestant churches or become unchurched atheists when the leave the Papist American RC church.
