I'm also looking for that lawsuit in (georgia?) one of the southern states that brought in evidence that without the ability to teach evolutionary theory that it would be impossible for them to analyze science...something like that.
Another thing that was brought up was someone's theory that this is the third evolution of man. That two other times man has been wiped out and reevolved. I love that one.
Zoroasthrus (sp?) lends itself to interpretation of sects. The Jihad that keeps coming up is also known as the Holy War that brings all religions back to one true religion.
Religions faction and break away, It has to do with cultural change, economic shifts, gender shifts, the repressed will cling to an ideal that helps them deal with suffering. Marx's opiate of the masses is not too far off the mark. Mao's religion is poison is another take.
Talking about evolution and gene theory. The "god gene" is kinda interesting. If we look at the European history of religion, those who do not believe were pretty much culled from the population, If this is a genetic trait (atheism) then it is interesting I think.
I think it is interesting though that creationists believe that god had to create in 7 earth days. If earth didn't exist how coudl there be an...oh nevah mind
Evidence, within the catholic bible (NASV interesting to read actually) they have the Maccabees. The Maccabees is now backed by archeology. The protestant bible does not have the maccabees because it was determined unlikely to have occurred. It is unlikely now that it is likely to be a legitimate history that the protestants will reestablish that into the Bible. The hebrews wandering the wilderness for 40 years has never been proven archeologically and is unlikely to be an actual event. If it had happened there would be evidence of such a persistent nomadism. Interesting posts, and yeah got a chuckle from the CD comment.
