cfmz:Couldn't agree more. When over half of our own citizens cannot health care, why should we pay for it for someone who was not only here illegally but then was convicted of another crime? The medical care that most prisoners get is already superior to that given to many people here.
Dear cfmz, to answer your first question, 'why should we pay for the health care of prisoners..'
...because we're a humane society, maybe?
To look the other way while someone slowly dies is clearly 'inhumane'. Not that it would matter, but this man was being held on drug charges, There are far worse crimes he could've committed and still not deserving of this type of treatment.
And on your final statment, "The medical care that most prisoners get is already superior to that given to many people here."....
...I hope that you or one of your Family members never has to find out. Should you have the unfortunate experience of being locked up in any of our severly overcrowded Prisons, may I wish you the best of luck, because that's what you'll need when it comes to addressing any medical concerns.
But for now, you have the freedom to go to any clinic, hospital emergency room and get someone to listen to your concerns. Next time you're at the Doctor, ask him or her what they know about medical care or lack therof in our Prisons. Ask about the hypocratic oath they took when they became a physician. And finally, ask them if they worked in a Prison and saw this man's Penis if they could just walk away and turn their back on someone who was suffering.
And lastly, I hope that you become more informed. Knowledge is power. And with that, maybe a change of heart.
Good luck
