The problem with Americans
by mythirdeye
I am an American. I believe our system of government was well-intentioned and, as originally documented, remarkably well conceived. This article points to something that the founding fathers didn't seem to quite forsee. When politics is a career, when only politicians run for and hold office, the process of representative democracy becomes mired in the mindsets of politicians. I, personally, think the behavior motivating this article is typical behavior of politicians - find reasons to say I'm right and you're wrong. If our society breeds so little emotional maturity that this represents our will, then we are all children left behind. I think the current administration embodies the lowest aspects of human greed and hypocricy, but I think further that it is the American people's inability to do any better that is truly scary. Inbreeding, whether biological or social, breeds the inability for successful adaptation, and infighting for its own sake is just one symptom.
