So long as abortions are legal, the debate will go on

To Nightswimmer,

You may actually be the only human on this earth with the true understanding of God and it might also be true that all other's understanding of God is be wrong and inferior to your own.

Please, do not redirect attention unto myself; this is not about me, and truthfully, none of us are righteous in our own merits, thus the need for Jesus. To be sure, today’s youth would fare better in modeling their lives after Christ.

Some social problems are best solved by society without attempting to have your government force your point of view on those with whom you disagree.

Where life is vulnerable and the right to live has been refused, as with all other instances of genocide, government intervention is absolutely necessary.

What would you gain by achieving your desire to imprison those who dare to opt for abortion when they become pregnant? Or would you actually prefer that the government put them to death?

It is not my desire for women to become criminals. Certainly a woman who finds herself pregnant unexpectedly has needs, least of which includes compassion, and needs to be presented with resources and opportunities.

But even God allowed people to have free will and make their own decisions.

Indeed, freedom of choice has been Gods ultimate design for humankind; however, such freedom also bears responsibility- responsibility to accept the consequences of choices made, be they positive or negative, and responsibility to ensure that no choice overrides the autonomy of another human being. For, unlike animals and land, human beings- regardless of gender, ethnicity, dependency, and stage of life- were not created for the purpose of existing as one’s property (Genesis 1:29-30) Therefore, none of us have been endowed with the authority to take life and liberty from another human being or to uphold those who do, as the radical pro-choice position does. Just as all other such institutions- slavery, murder, sex trafficking, elderly abuse, and patriarchy- have been rightly considered unjust and unlawful, so abortion ought to be.

Furthermore, a woman’s right to choose should never be presented as an either…or option. Women have surely come a long way in the last century, but to really reform gender stereotypes and ensure equality, society has to make certain that mothers can achieve the same status as men. Realistically speaking, women should not have to choose between their aspirations and granting life to their children. For that reason, I do not promote pro-choice because women can and certainly ought to have it all!
