Some people are forgetting...

that not all parents can afford to send their children to college. People in low-income households with only basic education of their own will most likely not be able to afford to send one or more children off for further education. Parents who are making just enough to get by - and not much else - will not be sending their children off to school either. That said, those parents most likely know that their child needs a better education and a degree to make more of themselves than the parents themselves can. Encouraging that their kids do better, learn more and make more of themselves should not be considered bad parenting when they don't foot the college bill. For the parents who can afford to pay the way, or at least assist their kids with tuition, kudos! For those that can't, the kids need to take responsibility for their own education and their own futures. College is not an entitlement, it is an opportunity.
