I was wondering where you were going with this story. I thought it might be botany treatise.

I would have been scared out of my mind.

For the record I've had close encounters with three snakes and a jaguar in South America. One of the scariest was when I was picking cherries and out from among the branches this whitish snake whipped out its tail at me. The other was with a huge yellowish water snake (almost lost my mind). The jaguar encounter happened on afield trip when I was 17 years old.
