"The Mouse" article by Seth Stevenson
by Cookiek

When did you lose your perspective? Age 12?

Really Seth, You paid money to be entertained by what is provided by Disney ( a multi billion $ company). If you would like to be disappointed -walk outside your door-it's there- the daily news provides plenty of daily horror...If you'd like to escape the daily horrors...go to Disney!

Yes, I do know what I'm talking about. I worked there for 12 years. If you have never seen the amazed look of a child that saw MICKEY for the first time, you have missed the whole point of your trip and wasted your money (or more likely, expensed your trip as a vindictive pompous journalist).

Did you think you were going to see the real world when visiting ? Do you have to PAY to see riots in the streets, jails, and nations around the world at war. NO. Perhaps your next "field trip" should be to Africa, The Middle East, or Antarctica, to find the "kind" of reporting you are choosing to SEE. After all, this IS America. You can be whatever you want here...including a pessimist!

BTW, Did you ask to be escorted "back stage" to see what goes on to make the "MAGIC" happen?
I didn't think so.

Though I will admit the current "collective minds" at Disney have swayed a bit from "The original ideas that Walt himself wanted to accomplish", none the less, Is there any ONE place in the world that YOU can go to see, feel and experience, as you said within the confines of the Disney 47 square miles, that will match: the experience, the facilities, the courtesy, or the exceptional SERVICE...I was a server there-be very careful what you say to ME....I walked my shift with a smile whether it was a 4 hour shift or a 12 hour shift. Roughly 20 miles a day on my feet, for service to the "GUESTS".

Yes, YOU were a GUEST !

Please do not come to my house-I will not greet you in any such manner! I'll sic my 12 yr old on you! He was 3 months old when "Cinderella" held him in her arms-3 yrs when "Mary Poppins" walked off stage with him (beaming)-then running to meet "MICKEY" for the first time.

side note: someone defying the safety regulations and jumping onto a moving tram, may want to try jumping out of a plane at 2000 ft. without a parachute-it is viewed in the same manner-why ? We want the guests to be SAFE-is that WRONG ?

As a journalist, you have a right to your opinion, but you don't have a clue as to what you are speaking of in this article !

Next time try taking a kid with you....
It WILL change your perspective !

Help make terminal child HAPPY by donating to "give kids the world" ! You'll feel better for it !
