This is a long conversation I have had probably 8 or 10 times over the last 7 years, and off and on prior to that. Meaning - what do American citizens really want, and what further use will the U.S. government have for its religion of convenience. How much will their form of religion be injected into the lives of the rest of us.
The most recent comment during one of these conversations, from a rabid republican, was that Americans don't want a president, they want a guru. He is an old style republican with common sense.
The present administration is much better, as are those who emulate it, at wielding the old testament as their weapon of choice, perhaps because it suits their plan - justifies it, if you will. Anyone who has read the old testament should be alarmed at this.
The psychology of this campaign and that of U.S. citizens is not for us to analyze in depth due to lack of expertise, but it certainly does appear that citizens are longing for a higher order of godlike governing (or might we call it parenting), willing to accept at face value the entertainment quality of the race, and apparently willing to accept the old testament.
