Re: Boob job = serious self-esteem issue
by tupperwear

camiwa - The problem here is the clothes, not your body. Get things altered, custom made, etc. Yes it costs more but it’s worth it in that you’ll like how you look, and it’s cheaper (and far less painful!) than having surgery!

Trust me, things aren’t any better on the other end. I’m the opposite of you – I naturally have enormous breasts and nothing fits me either.

(I’m wearing an H cup, largest I could find in a store to try on, but they’re too small so I have to wear a softcup full coverage bra inside an underwire bra. Every day. If you go by inches, where an H is breast size 11inches larger than band size, I am 14 inches larger than band size which would make me an “L” cup, which does not exist! I lost 55 pounds and still didn't make it onto the "real bra sizes" chart. I miss my high school DDDs...)

The problem is clothing is made not only for sizes, but under the assumption that a particular size is also a particular shape. You’re “pear” shaped, but at a size 12 which is assumed to be an hourglass. I’m an hourglass at size 18, which is assumed to be an apple so everything size 18 is made to look cute around smaller breasts and disguise a huge stomach, where my body is the opposite.

Bitter! – breast reduction costs twice as much as implants/augmentation. Bite me, plastic surgery industry.

As for the original LW, I don't really know what to think. If she had the surgery to correct a malformation or something she should have said so, and either way she should expect that people are going to comment. Not condone it, but really... it's not like it's that shocking that people in our current boob obsessed culture would comment on your boobs suddenly being bigger. Grow a thicker skin and tell them to eff off. Or just roll your eyes "oooh, you're so original, looking at my breasts! Wow, no one has noticed until YOU JUST DID! YOU GENIUS! OH WOW!!!"
