The US and NATO allies did a very extensive and thorough inspection (that I took part in, btw.) on NBC weapons presence and capabilities. Nothing, Zip, Zilch, NADA!!! and we collectively decided: "He ain't got sh1t."
We also decided:"We ain't gonna be telling anyone, because the 'neighbors' (Turks included) are going upon him like stink on sh1t as soon as they realize that they've been had by Iraq's bluff. Had that happened, we'd have had $100 per barrel of oil in 1991, instead of in Feb 2008. Not to mention a full blown war in the Middle East that would have eclipsed the fairly modest cost of the Q8 (Kuwait) liberation excercise. Which was BTW. Liberating the most probably most backward and corrupt, sexist, vile and anti-democratic set of feudal rulers in the region, but yeppers; The photo-ops were Great and (unlike the present Iraq entanglement) the marketing of the effort as a US excercise of Liberty and Freedom was fab!
