The article was about Vets. but you are right that was a non sequetor.
Re: Your a moderate conservative

I voted for Goldwater and Ford, but the GOP split away from me. Nixon, Reagan, Atwater and Rove have driven me away.

'I voted for Goldwater and Ford, but the GOP split away from me. Nixon, Reagan, Atwater and Rove have driven me away.'

yeah. and i voted for carter. what a dumbass i was.

Re: Your a moderate conservative

Carter was a better president than Ronnie. Ronnie interfered with foreign relations with Iran, Precipitating some of our current problems there.

Servicing the national debt is the 3rd largest part of the budget. Just stopping the national debt at pre Reagan levels would lower current taxes by 17%. but now it will grow. No one has the Gonads required to reverse the trend.

Re: Your a moderate conservative

Now that's some funny shit....Ronnie fucked with Iran, but Carter didn't?...that's why Carter is better? Fuck my memory, but didn't the Iranian Hostage Crisis happen during Carter's watch, and end under Reagan's? For Carter not screwing around with our foreign relations with Iran...I wonder what the hell inspired those silly Iranians to storm the embassy and hold ours hostage for over a year?
Well only kinda
by degsme

Well only kinda.

Carter inherited the Iranian mess from Kissinger et. al. And Ronnie lucked out that Khomeni hated Carter so much that he wanted to make sure Carter didn't get re-elected. Reagan was elected as much by Khomeni as by anything else.

Re: Well only kinda
by Rubma

Carter was a screwed up mess....America would have voted for a brownie scout in place of Carter's sorry ass. Carter was horrible...no matter who liked or disliked him. Carter and Mondale would be more aptly named, Dick and Dynamite. If one didn't dick it up, the other would blow it up. F'n clowns.

Nice redaction
by degsme

Carter wasn't the best POTUS, but he wasn't horrible. It was the Joint Chiefs and their viscious post vietnam Provincialism that caused Eagles Claw to fail, not Carter.

Carter started the Afghan resistance funding.

So exactly where was Carter a "screwed up mess"? Other than not kissing but to the Congressional party hounds?

Re: Your a moderate conservative

Did you even read the rest of our posts? I think morgan leans to the left a little and I lean to the right a little but we both support and welcome ideas from the other side whereas people like you buy one side hook line and sinker. Another thing, how the hell did you get authoritarianism from our posts? Besides, I think Libertarianism and Authoritarianism are polar opposites… so that would be pretty messy. However, I am neither Libertarian nor Authoritarian. I just love capitalism, democracy and the freedom to make ones own choices for better or for worse.

Re: Nice redaction

My apologies for calling your baby ugly....the floor is yours, brag on Carter. I guess I've located the one guy that is impressed with his presidency.

You made the claim
by degsme

.

You made the claim that Carter was terrible. So back it up with concrete evidence.

Re: You made the claim
by Rubma
If you recall....concrete evidence was provided in my original post concerning Carter....unless you are claiming the hostage crisis didn't happen.
Um nope
by degsme

Nope, not quite. Your "evidence" is misattributed. The Iran hostage crisis goes back to the US installation of the Peacock Throne in Iran, and Kissinger's support of the brutal Savak. The consequences of that befell Carter, but they were not of Carter's making.

Similarly the economic issues were caused by Nixon/Ford policies (remember price freezes and 55mph speed limits?). It was Carter who installed a Fed Chairman that is creditted withsolved stagflation

So lets try again, - some concrete examples of why Carter was the "worst president ever"... come on, I'm sure you cannot.

Left of what
by degsme

Left of what?

Yes much of public dialogue has shifted fare enough right that social libertarians might appear as "left leaning" but they arn't. If anyone is buying the political rhetoric "hook line and sinker" in this dialogue, it isn't me.

Libertarianism and Authoritarianism are flip sides of the same coin. Libertarianism essentially says that "might makes right" It believes that government has little or no role to play in leveling the playing field and supporting the less abled. The net result of that is what we saw in Russia under Yeltsin - the rule of those most willing to exercise Authoritarian power be it within a corporation, via illegal means or through the use of Government power on the letter of the law - law that has been written to favor the powerful.

Re: Um nope
by Rubma
Misattributed?...who was it that granted the Shah's request to come to America for Cancer treatment? Consequences that befell Carter....poor guy, had a choice and made the wrong one.
