Leonard Cohen and Jeff Buckley
by elizabelle

I most definitely go on day (and sometimes week) long song immersions. Typically the songs I binge on are songs that make me "feel." It's not that they make me feel happy, or thoughtful, or any other particular emotion. They just make me feel. Often they heighten the intensity of whatever emotion I'm experiencing before putting the song on.

Presently, my fix is Leonard Cohen's "Famous Blue Raincoat" off of the "Songs of Love and Hate" album. It's melody is so simple, just guitar strumming. And the words are simple too--a letter. But there's a back story there. And the song is really in the backstory.

I also frequently binge on Jeff Buckley's "Lover You Should Have Come Over" off of the "Grace" album, Wilco's "She's a Jar" off of "Summer Teeth," and "Lucha de Gigantes" by Fiebre.

speakin of leonard and jeff, buckley's version of 'hallelujah' is one of mine. and cohen's "famous blue raincount"

totaly agree w/ elizabelle about songs that "make me feel"

"amelia" absolutely, tho i don't care for the rest of the album at all compared to it or to many other joni albums and songs.

someone already mentioned van morrison's old cover of dylan's "it's all over now, baby blue". that's another one for me.

elvis costello's cover of nick lowe's "what's so funny bout peace love and understanding"

samuel barber's "adagio for strings"

hendrix's live version of "red house" form the isle of wight

i could go on, like and endless loop of a song i love...
