Born fighter?
by Greatbear452
In what sense does quitting just because the media scrutiny was too tough makes someone a "born fighter"?
Even before she quit
by Trebuchet

My impression was that she was exceptionally lazy.

She could not come up with a single Supreme Court Ruling that she disagreed with except for Roe v Wade. Come on. How long has she been in politics? Couldn't she have shown just a little interest in, you know, government, after she got elected governor?

There are books that are written about the Supreme Court and the various decisions that have been made by the Supreme Court and then there is always Google. Would it kill her to do a little reading?

Fighters don't get in the ring unless they have worked hard and long on their craft. Otherwise they get knocked out in the first round by the first opponent that has.

Sound like someone?

What is the line, 'He who flees and runs away lives to fight another day'? Maybe that's what Palin had in mind.

No, and that's exactly why she is quitting the governor's post. She "can be more effective at change outside of government," i.e., she doesn't have to know anything about government in order to make blanket statements against government which show absolutely no understanding of government whatsoever.

Sarah Palin is always in a rush to get her picture taken. To Sarah, that's governing. Run to the dogsledding festival for a photo op; have the Girl Scouts come into the office for a quick pic; tour a fish canning plant with photog in tow; rush off to a construction site and don a hardhat; later in the afternoon kick off your heels in front of tv cameras and sit back on a bearskin for a relaxing interview. It's all image.

Sarah is a beauty pageant contestant in life. The Life of Sarah is divided into little competitions in front of a camera. The actual work of governing is boring and testy. It doesn't allow her enough time to go on to the next segment of today's pageant... fishin' photo op.... huntin' photo op...photo op of Sarah dandling a baby...straight-shootin' Sarah interview where, ya know guys, it's just you an' Sarah sittin' back shootin' the breeze about these stuck-up elites in the lower 48 who just don't get us, ya know?

The last thing Sarah wants to do is govern or learn about government. It's much easier to jawbone about government and how lousy it is! Am I right, guys? Right? Didja see the picture of me huntin' moose and makin' mooseburgers? Try'n get some foofy senator from the lower 48 to skin a moose, hey? He'd dieeee!

The most disturbing part of all this for me is that the McCain camp accepted this woman as vice presidential material without giving her a thorough look-over, then continued push for her election long after her failings became apparent. Did anyone in that camp actually think that they were working for the US as they did so?

I'm also disturbed that in some Republican circles, someone so ineffective, inarticulate and ignorant is still considered to have been "victimized" by the press and vengeful Alaskans bent on slapping her with ethical violations. It appears that the party that put forward George W. Bush--a president proud of his ignorance--is now 2-for-2. I hope that will that be enough for Republicans, though I fear it isn't.

very good observation. Tons of Supreme Court opinions out there she could have looked into, like Kelo--the eminent domain case.. where government was allowed to condemn private land and give it over to developers where there would really be no public access. Court said "public use" (like for schools, or parks, etc.) really now means for a "public purpose". And ruled in favor of the city that its economic plan was a sufficient "public purpose". She could have got into that one.

tons of good ones out there and books about it. She might have even liked it if she had taken the time to read up and think about these issues. But nope--and that is lazy. She would rather just lie than do any of the hard work.

Yeah

Not to be judging her motives since I don't really know her, but she does seem to come off as one of those people that thinks that she can get by on quick wits. plenty of charm and lots of talking without saying anything.

Preparation apparently means nothing to her.

It seems that reading and knowledge only applies to those outside the accepted circle. Did we not just have our National Debt increased and a budget enacted that NO ONE read before they put their John Hancock on it. It takes no intelligence to pull off what we have just watched transpire in our legislature. The Democrats even hired a reader, which reflects their concerns for their constutients. I guess my and your money is a joke to them, they just spend it. It makes no difference whether it's a Democrat or Republican, they have all failed to do their jobs. We need a new party and I hope Sarah can lead the charge. Sarah is a real person, which is why the media, politictians, and the elite dog her.

Those foofy Senators have done a good job of skinning and milking the American public enjoy your new taxes if you have a job when they are due.
Hold on there, Spanky!

OK, here's how your argument goes. First, no rebuttal to my premise that Palin is lazy. Secondly, you roll out an unsubstantiated allegation that a) our National Debt was increased in a way that was bad and b) that this spending was arbitrarily judged to be unwise.

You are asking all of us to go along with you on that one, counselor.

But lets just for a moment suspend all disbelief in your shoddy argument (I bet this sounded a whole lot better when they said it on FAUX News!) and accept that the rest of the Federal government is shiftless and lazy as you say they are....

It still doesn't redeem Sarah, counselor! She's the one on trial and you have not given us any evidence to the contrary of her unsuitability for high office. She's a real person? Really? Did you get close enough to touch her skin? They are doing great things with androids these days, though the androids usually give better speeches.

She is dogged by the media, politictians, and the elite? Wait a minute! I have an uncle that is a politician (did I misspell that?) AND an elite and I resent that you would call him a dog! Actually, I don't even have an Uncle anymore, but I am not sure how being dogged by those people would make you suitable for high office either.

But you do make a good point about the fact that Sarah can charge. One week end. 150,000 dollars worth of clothes. I didn't even know that was possible. You have got to admit that even the thought of doing that is pretty scary.

And it certainly doesn't make one suitable for high office!

Yes, she struck me as intellectually lazy from the start. She seemed to think that her cheerleader charm could get her through anything. It's ironic that conservatives consider laziness an unforgivable vice, yet many tried to defend her.
