You've never understood American politics because you judge it by Canadian standards. I assure you, my warnings are serious. (Do you remember who the real Fritz Gerlich was?) This woman may very well be president of the United States some day--regardless of what high-minded Canadians may wish. While there is breath in her body, she will never quit, never get discouraged, never second-guess her opportunistic instincts, never shrink from brazen self-serving lies. She is Geo. W. Bush on steroids, and if she builds the right organization (as he did), she will be very, very hard to stop. Yes, she has vulnerabilities (the biggest one being her family, which could implode). But then, so does Obama. The Republicans, on paper, are so far down right now that people write them off. Big, big mistake.

Fritz, perhaps we can have a moment here, a meeting of the minds, if you will. Will you put partisan politics aside for a moment and join me in telling the Canadians to go fuck themselves?

Anybody who says she can't win is either underestimating her or overestimating the average American voter or both.

I do think resigning from office is an odd start to a national campaign, though. Shows a lack of commitment.

Of course, the media's unwillingness to actually pose intelligent questions of them doesn't hurt.

They will welcome it joyfully as Sarah's reaching for the crown. That is what she's doing right now, and for the next 18 months or so: finishing off every other possible contender for the Republican base. That done, she will still have plenty of time to create the "new Palin" for 2012--the moderate, sensible, flexible, statesman-like Palin, to woo the center. Her base will by then be locked in--nowhere else to go. And please don't think Palin can't turn into whatever she wants, if it serves her ambitions. I assure you that she can.

Wow. She babbles on and on with no coherence, no apparent punctuation or sentence structure, run on sentences, phrases within phrases outside of paragraphs (now she has me babbling). This woman is an idiot, a Chauncy....what a load of bullshit.

Word on the street was that she wasn't going to seek another term. The resignation thing is a surprise. Two thoughts:

• Being in Alaska makes it difficult to do the fundraising dinners and such; and
• Alaskans are vicious. Her opponents keep filing nuisance ethics complaints simply to damage her nationally. They're 0-15 on those things so far. She may figure she doesn't need the hassle of office right now, as she gears up for 2012.

I also think she believes (as I do) that Obama will be very vulnerable in 2012, so that's her opportunity. She's clearing the decks, freeing up her time, and giving herself flexibilty.

So that was three thoughts.

What if we Canadians happen to live in the US? I mean I have to live with the consequences of all this 2 party, mega-lobbyist, partisan, clown rodeo bullshit that you guys call a democracy, shouldn't I get to have my say too?

Just a couple of mavericks doing mavericky stuff...something is up and its either really bad or she is going to make some money and give this up for good....my bet? Money. Why not. If I was her or Todd, that's what I would do...
