I was a young wife and mother when Nixon was elected. I,too, was disgusted and repulsed by the man. I thought beyond description, but, Mr. Hitchens has managed to do so. For fun, my children will whisper "Nixon", just to see my spine tighten and my fists clench. The feelings are visceral and as strong today as they ever were. I am a sweet grandma now. I've had long years filled with the love of family and friends -BUT I STILL HATE NIXON.
Nixon and his gang of goons deserved long prison sentences. And, I believe, had that happened, the Bush nightmare could have been avoided. Cheney and Rumsfeld could not have been resurrected, to strike again.
Their latest crime spree should be fully investigated and exposed. Their trials should be public and their punishment as severe as the law allows.

Good point - I never thought about Cheney and Rummy having been resurrected. But that's what happens when a society doesn't put their foot down far enough and hold it there long enough to get to the truth. A great number of politicians are slick SOCIOPATHIC weasels - lying as it suits their needs. They remain in power because it's difficult for most people to believe some one could be so ruthless and have NO CONSCIENCE about going on murderous crime sprees. Cheney and Rumsfeld are the sociopath poster boys.
