Puleeze: why does Will emphathize with Sanford?
by lloyd667

First, Sanford is, according to Will, a pretty noble guy for "confessing" honestly. Really? He "confessed" only when caught by the press. Even then, he refuses to release records that would show if he had his trysts on the taxpayers dime. (Here is a prediction: The records will come out, and they will show he did charge the taxpayers for his love trips.)

Now, Sanford is all soul, finding his inner emotions but being unable to act. Such horse****. Sanford could have done what real people do all the time: told his wife and family that he loved someone else, left them, and moved in with the love of his life. Why didn't he? My guess is his political ambitions. So, here we have a guy cheating on his wife, but who can't do anything about it because, what, he had an outside shot at the GOP presidential nomination.

Will's attemps to make Sanford a sympathetic figure are as pathetic as Sanford himself.

Hear, hear. If nothing else, this guy is a pure sadist. All that babbling about finding his true soulmate, then deciding to settle for his wife...why didn't he just stab her with a kitchen knife? It probably would have hurt less.

The guy has four sons ,a very attractive intelligent wife, and on fathers day he flies to Argentina to make love to his Conchita. Given that he demanded Bill Clinton resign from office because of his affair, he is also a hypocrite of the worse kind but that is not why he should resign from the governorship of South Carolina. He should resign from the office because anyone who references the Thorn Birds in an email to his illicit lover lives in a soap opera world and is too delusional to be governor of any state except of course Louisiana

IVY VEH. The Washington Post's Reliable Source chat was speculating that Sanford may be trying to get his wife to leave him. That way, he still looks like the family values candidate "I wanted to work on my marriage, but she left me" and he can move on to the mistress.

mlang46 - Thanks for the laugh!

saturday - Couldn't agree more. He'll pull the woe is me. "Our marriage was tested, and instead of trusting in God to heal our wounds and draw us together closer, and strengthen our relationship. My wife left over my objections and my promises to be a better husband in her eyes and the eyes of God."

And yeah, that comment of his about finding his soul mate, what a jerk. Although it was funny in the days after the affair broke to read some of his compatriots say about him "I thought the guy was asexual"
